Can Money Really Buy Talent and Happiness?

How do we retain talent is a wrong question, to begin with. The fact is, we can’t keep people today. The right question to ask is, how do we ensure that our talent return?

Studies have proven that the level of pay has no direct correlation with people’s satisfaction at work, and the number one reason why people decide to leave an organization is that they perceive they are no longer growing in their career. And yet, we can’t run away from facing the dollar and cents.

How then can we balance the money, talent and happiness equation and transform the way we engage talent that is both sustainable and scalable.

This keynote aims to create the following take-away:

  • Why talent stay and why talent go?
  • The new mind-set shift in retaining talent and our new game plan today
  • How we can energize our talent through career conversation and multiply the people result
  • Discovering the key to keeping talent and have them returning
  • What does that mean for leaders and managers today?

End of Day 2

About the conference

The demographics of the workplace have been changing a lot lately due to massive inflow of millennials. 2017 would be the first year whereby Gen Z will be joining the workforce and now the multi generation workforce has expanded to four generations. Each of these generations has different traits and demands and this is putting the employers in a very difficult situation of strategizing policies and initiatives that entices all generations.

With the current economy going through uncertainty, employers are facing difficulties in increasing productivity due to financial constraint. Retrenchment is on high level as organisations are struggling to minimise operating cost. Not only that, HR is slow in taking up a more strategic role and copes with the drastic changes.

Employees are expecting salary hikes due to increasing living expenses, and this is causing employers having difficulties in retaining the employees. Organisations are struggling to work on an effective measure to attract and retain talent with the budget constraint that they are facing now.

Last but not least, technology disruption plays a big role in changing the landscape of HR. There are more and more technological innovations in the market designed to increase efficiency and lessen the workload of HR. This provides HR the opportunity to shift to a more strategic role when more processes in HR can be automated. Data analytics also makes it more viable for HR to add value to the organisation as data analytics provides HR with the missing link that is hindering organisations from achieving their goals. From the insights of data analytics HR could strategies and increase the bottom line of the organisation.
